This was the most awkward but amazing encounter I’ve ever had. If I was to have a list of musical heroes or whatever, this homeboy would be high up on the list.

So i am not the biggest pitchfork fan around, unless they praise a band that I like. But this is a pretty cool review because they’re actually praising a band that is good!
Whenever I listen to a band that is slightly noisy and heavy, my dad always remarks that it sounds like Unsane. It’s nice to see Pitchfork choose to be smart and pay their dues to an underrated band that deserves the attention.
Word.
Mission of Burma is one of the best bands ever. They’re loud and aggressive at times yet dynamic and musical as well. They also proved that age does not matter when it comes to art. Most of the members are in their mid to late fifties but it’s impossible to tell when you listen to their music, not that matters anyways. Vs is a great album to start with even if it takes a few listens to really get into it. There past three albums are just as great, with The Obliterati being one of my favorites. They’re currently working on a new album which I’m super stoked for.
Here is a more recent video of them playing Here it Comes. Watch it and go punch someone for the sake of doing it.
Monday Night Raw Review 2/6/12
Last week’s Raw was great, some people even thought that it was better than the Royal Rumble PPV the night before. I didn’t buy it so I can’t claim that, but I cannot deny how great Raw was last week. Me being the Jericho and CM Punk mark that I am, I thought that their segment was the best part. So how the hell do they follow up with that a week later?
Well, RAW was decent tonight. Way too much filler, but I’m hoping that will change after the Elimination Chamber. Big Show and Daniel Bryan’s feud needs to stop. Bryan is turning out to be a great heel, but he needs someone better than the Big Show to show off to. The best part about his heel character back in the indies was his mixture of skill and persona. He was so violent and brutal in the ring, and he loved to brag about it on the mic. He definitely carries Show in the ring, but he needs someone more realistic. Maybe his match against Randy Orton on Smackdown will do just that. Obviously it won’t have a clean finish, but they better let Bryan look strong, and judging by Orton’s habit of putting other’s over last year he could do just that.
I liked what Triple H said about the Undertaker’s arrival last week, it lacked the excitement (and what the fuck was up with that wig?!). I hate to complain about Taker’s character getting stale because it is one of the coolest gimmicks however, his career is approaching an end. I would rather Taker not be around this year in order for the Wrestlemania under/mid card to be stronger, but then again, when was the last time we had a good mid card? I’m just not excited for Triple H vs Undertaker III, it will be boring…again. However, there is one veteran who has returned and made his name as relevant as ever…EEEHHHVVVVERRRRR!
Fucking Chris Jericho! Finally that homeboy has taken a break from his awesome (well not so awesome) band Fozzy! It’s time for him to get back in the ring where he belongs, although his books are great as well, and his cameo in Macgruber, and Dancing With the Stars, and his VH1 stuff is great too. My memories of Jericho go back to his days in WCW where his and the other cruiserweights’ matches were always stealing the show while Nash and Hogan were circle jerking in the back. I once saw him at Amoeba too! I like to assume that he was getting something cool, like Pantera, Slayer, Motorhead, or Ted Nugent and not Dream Theater. Aside from that, Y2J is back to steal the show again which brings us to CM Punk, another one of my favorites!
I’m one of the wrestling hipster’s who has followed CM Punk since his days in the indies (sound familiar?). CM Punk is the best in the world and I want him to sing for my straight edge hardcore band that hasn’t left my imagination yet. I shot with excitement when I heard rumors of Jericho and Punk having a title match at Wrestlemania. Two of my favorites together in the ring with the WWE Championship on the line. They’ve had matches in the past, but they didn’t really tell a story like they could now.
So…back to the Raw review. Jericho came out and rambled about how everyone copies him (true, fuck da Miz) and claimed that CM Punk was the biggest Jericho wannabe out of everyone. So CM Punk came and said nothing. Nothing! He did exactly what Jericho did for a month, and Y2J did not like it one bit. It totally created a grudge that has the potential for feud of the year. I can’t wait for the promo where CM Punk talks about how great (not so great) Fozzy is and how Jericho should stop crying and start crying on the mic for Fozzy and Jericho tells him to go get crushed in the pit. Fuck! So great! I know, right!
The main event was a six pack challenge with no six packs and a couple of bumps. R-Truth got fucked up because the Miz is a fucking idiot who failed to catch him. I couldn’t tell if it was planned at first because the Miz tried to sell it…when only his arm touched R-Truth. C’mon former (Real) World Champ. Y2J’s lionsault scared me at first, because it was so badass. Anyways, the highlights of the match were Kofi and Y2J and Ziggler and Punk. Punk eventually got the GTS on Ziggler but Jericho threw Punk over the announcer’s table and got the pinfall to win the last entrance in the Elimination Chamber. I’m assuming that Punk and Jericho will be last, and I think that either man should win. Jericho can win and brag until Punk pins him to have his Wrestlemania moment. The end was as Jericho sat Kriss Kross Apple Sauce holding the title looking just like CM Punk. How ironic! Both are the best in the world! This was the best part of Raw up until we heard some chick screaming.
It was revealed to be Eve Torres who was being held by Kane, looking quite conspicuous. C’mon, does Linda McMahon really expect to win the Senate seat when her company ends off their show with an angle that looks like Kane is about to rape Eve! Linda, you can do all the anti-bullying campaigns but you won’t erase the history of Katie Vick. This one got old real quick. We get it, Cena’s refusal to turn heel has brought Zack Ryder to lose his US title and for Eve to be “disturbed” severely by Kane’s tactics. It’s scary and the 8 year olds probably all shit their pants, but it’s getting old! Let this feud culminate with Cena getting a bit more snippy to gain heat for his match against the Rock and for Kane to wrestle Undertaker at Wrestlemania. (Yes, the match won’t be better than Taker/HHH but it makes more sense). I think I’m just upset because it ruined a badass Jericho and Punk angle.
Last notes: What is Swagger going to do with the US Title? Beth Phoenix is turning out to be more badass, AJ was wearing clothes unlike 90% of the “Divas”, The Great Khali needs to go away, Cody Rhodes is a lot like Goldust.
This raw gets something like 6 or 7/10 compared to last week which was like 9 or 10. I’m bad with ratings.
I just want some rasslin’!

Greg Sage is the man and The Wipers are amazing, in fact every single album is amazing. I’ve been really into “The Circle” lately but “Over the Edge” tends to be my favorite. They seem like the band that everyone tries to spread the word about, yet they still remain overlooked. I can’t tell if it’s a bad thing or not, just let the music do the talking.
Anyone know of Greg Sage’s whereabouts? I just know that he runs Zeno in Arizona now.
Mitsuharu Misawa & Jun Akiyama vs (Dr. Death) Steve Williams & Johnny Ace
Wrestling Observer 5 Star Match and 1996 Match of the Year.
John Laurinaitis has quite a few gems in his wrestling career. Unfortunately we all know him as the Interim General Manager of Raw…blah blah blah. I’m glad that the WWE has been pointing out the fact that he used to be a wrestler before sucking up to the McMahons and firing and hiring wrestlers. However, he’s not quite the failure that they try to make him seem like.
How many five star matches does Triple H have? Could Triple H have ever wrestled Mitsuharu Misawa? At least Johnny Ace can say that he has two 5 star matches and that he has competed with Japan’s greatest wrestlers.
Aside from that, I wish that the Undertaker would just stay away from the ring this year. We don’t need another Taker/Triple H match this year. Sure it may have told a story, but it was really fucking boring. This will probably be his last match but it shouldn’t be with Triple H. His last match needs to be with Kane. The two are at the end of their careers and a match between the two would just make the most sense.
Wrestlemania 28 will be great with Cena/Rock, the return of MITB, and of course and hopefully, Punk and Jericho. We don’t need a match with Triple H and Taker to bore everyone and hog the spotlight from the once glorious mid card and tag team division (don’t even get me started on the Divas either). With all complaints aside, WWE is doing really well lately. All we need is for Kharma and Beth Phoenix to bring wrestling back to the Divas division, a good opponent for Jack Swagger’s US title, the same for Cody Rhodes’ IC title, and for the tag team division to regain some steam. It may take time, but things seem to be headed the right direction. Anyways, let’s hope that 2012 is another great year for some rasslin’.
I almost broke by back from a brutal powerbomb from Luis. We had a 2/3 falls match, unfortunately I tapped to the Walls of Jericho and fell to the powerbomb. At least I got him to tap to the Lebell Lock. We tore down the house, Frankie’s house that is. Cool kids like us spend their Friday nights planning wrestling matches after Swellbow practice.
